Xiaomi’s 2016 Flagship smartphone and the much-talked Mi5 is set to hit Indian shores on 31st March 2016. Earlier this month on 3rd, during the Redmi Note 3 launch in New Delhi, company’s Vice President, Hugo Barra had announced that Xiaomi would be bringing the Mi5 to India in a months time. And keeping that promise, they’ve decided to have the launch event on 31st March 2016. The launch would happen in New Delhi, and the invites for the event is being sent to people from media, bloggers and Mi fans across the country.
Mi5 was first announced on 24th February 2016 in China and Barcelona, MWC 2016 (Mobile World Conference) simultaneously. And ever since its launch, it has been receiving accolades from various media, tech blogs and reviewers. Mi5 is right up there with other flagships which cost almost double the price of what Mi5 in priced. In China, the price of Mi5 starts from 1999 RMB ($305).
The Mi5 goes with the tagline – All you ever imagined, and more! It indeed lives up to that tag. It is insanely fast with the latest Snapdragon 820 processor. The phone comes with 4GB RAM and 128 GB Flash in its top variant which is called as Mi5 Pro. Mi 5 comes in two other variants – 3GB RAM/32GB Internal and 3GB RAM/64GB Internal. It has a 5.15″ full HD IPS display and is lit by a 16 LED light panel which gives incredible brightness. This would be Xiaomi’s second smartphone after Redmi Note 3 that will feature a fingerprint sensor. However, unlike the Redmi Note 3, this will have the fingerprint sensor in the front, built onto the Home button.
One of the fascinating features on the Mi5 is its camera. It comes with a 16-megapixel camera (with Sony IMX298 sensor) which has the industry first 4-axis OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). You can read more about the Mi5 here.
