Xiaomi is bringing its first phablet, the Mi Max to India on 30th June 2016.
Last month, Xiaomi entered into the phablet segment in China by launching Mi Max, their first phablet which boasts of a massive 6.44″ display. Coupled with some amazing technical specifications and competitive pricing, this has become the favorite for many who prefer large screen smartphones.
After its China launch, company VP, Hugo Barra had announced on Social Media that Xiaomi would be bringing the Mi Max to India soon. And now, almost after a months time, it is official that Mi Max will be reaching Indian shores on 30th June 2016. Xiaomi will be holding a launch event at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the capital city of New Delhi, and invites for the same are being sent to media, bloggers, and Mi fans.
Mi Max comes with a super large 6.44″ full HD IPS display on a 2.5D glass. It has an ultra-thin bezel and a full metal body. The dimensions of the phone are 173.1 mm in height, 88.3 mm in width and 7.5 mm in thickness. So even with a massive display, this phone is thin and compact and fits well in pockets. At the rear, Xiaomi has provided a fingerprint sensor which has become a standard for all phones now.
Xiaomi has introduced two variants of the Mi Max. One with the Snapdragon 650 processor and another variant with Snapdragon 652 processor. Both are an identical 1.8 GHz hexa-core processor with Adreno 510 GPU. The main difference between the two is that the 650 has two ARM Cortex-A72 processor cores and four Cortex-A53 cores, whereas the 652 has four ARM Cortex-A72 processor cores and four Cortex-A53 cores. This makes the Snapdragon 652 marginally better compared to the 650.
There are three versions when it comes to buying the Mi Max. It comes with a 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM configuration which has the Snapdragon 650 processor in it. The second one is 3GB RAM + 64GB ROM and the third has the 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM configuration. These two versions have the Snapdragon 652 processor.
Mi Max features the Hybrid SIM slot with “3-choose-2” configuration. You can either use the phone as Dual SIM (nano SIM + micro SIM) phone or as a Single SIM phone with expandable memory option (micro SIM + TF card). The memory card slot supports up to 128GB.
When it comes to camera, the Mi Max has a 16-megapixel shooter as its primary camera and 5-megapixel shooter as its front camera. The primary camera has 5 element lens, PDAF, and the aperture value is f/2.0. It can take 1080p videos at 30fps and 720p videos at 120fps. There is a dual tone LED flash next to the camera. The front camera has an aperture value of f/2.0 and an 85° wide angle lens to capture the selfies.
With respect to network connectivity, it supports 4G+/4G LTE, 3G, 2G and CDMA1X/EVDO. In case of 4G, the frequency bands supported as FDD-LTE (B1, B3, B7), TD-LTE (B38,B39, B40, B41). It also has support for VoLTE.
Mi Max boasts of a massive 4850 mAh battery inside it, which is essential for a phone with a display this big. The phone supports Quick Charge 2.0.
